Edexcel IGCSE English Literature: specification changes for 2012

Edexcel IGCSE English Literature: specification changes for 2012

What are the specification changes?

Earlier this year, Edexcel announced changes to the Edexcel IGCSE English Literature specification. These changes are for teaching from September 2012, and will be assessed for the first time in June 2012 examinations. When you have accessed Edexcel IGCSe English Literature page via the link above, click on the links to ‘specifications’ and then ‘changes explained’ to read about the changes to the specification, and on ‘Issue 2’ to see the second issue of the specification.

What do they mean for Oxford Open Learning English Literature IGCSE students?

Developed to meet the requirements of the Edexcel specification, Oxford Open Learning’s IGCSE English Literature course has been updated to ensure that our distance learning students receive fully up-to-date information on the revised exam requirements. The revised course also includes an additional Module on Unseen texts in order fully to prepare students for the new additional question on unseen prose and poetry in Section A of Paper 2.

Existing students are being sent updated sections of the course that are affected by the specification change.  New students will automatically receive fully updated courses.

Who else will benefit from our updated course materials?

At Oxford Open Learning we also offer all students studying for the Edexcel IGCSE English Literature examination, whether at home, at school, or at work, the opportunity to use our set of 16 Anthology worksheets and answers (one for each poem in the Edexcel Anthology) independently of our courses.  A sample worksheet is included here.  Please email us, if you would like further details of our sets of Anthology Worksheets.

If you would like further information about our English Language IGCSE distance learning course, please contact us and we will be pleased to answer your queries.
