At the heart of Oxford Open Learning’s success is the quality (and quantity) of tutor support. Our tutors are required to be proactive in contacting you, the student, on a regular basis. Our tutors will encourage you, guide your studies, answer your queries, reflect on mistakes you have made in assignments, monitor your schedule, focus on your coursework, etc, etc. This is why we guarantee your success. Do not choose a different distance learning organisation which fails to offer this level of tutor support.
All Oxford Open Learning Trust tutors are fully qualified teachers holding either a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) or a degree in education. So when you enrol on an Oxford Open Learning course you can be assured of the assistance of a professionally qualified subject-specific tutor.
Tutors are also required to have extensive experience of teaching the subject to the same level (or higher) as the one you are enrolled at. In addition, each tutor is individually trained by Oxford Open Learning in the specific skills and procedures that are required for successful distance learning.
All Oxford Open Learning courses include tutor-marked assignments (TMAs). Your tutor will mark these assignments and give you specific help based on your answers. In addition, once your work has been marked Oxford Open Learning will also send you a set of suggested answers to help you see where your strengths and weaknesses lie.
All Oxford Open Learning tutors have a freephone telephone number (0800). This means that if you are in the UK when you phone your tutor, you won’t pay the cost of the call. Whilst you are still actively submitting assignments, you should expect to be in contact with your tutor regularly. Remember, to get the most out of your tutor, you will need to tell them when you need assistance.
