Edexcel IGCSE English Language A: specification changes for 2012

Edexcel IGCSE English Language A: specification changes for 2012

What are the specification changes?

Earlier this year, Edexcel announced small changes to the Edexcel IGCSE English Language A specification. These changes are for teaching from September 2011, and will be assessed for the first time in June 2012 examinations.  The changes affect the mark scheme for the exam, and also include a new digital text in the Edexcel Anthology: ‘Climate Change – Greenpeace’.  Full details are available via the link above. Click on the link to ‘specifications’ and then on ‘changes explained’ to read about changes to the specification, and on ‘Issue 2’ to see the second issue of the specification itself.

What do they mean for Oxford Open Learning English IGCSE students?

Developed to meet the requirements of the Edexcel specification, Oxford Open Learning’s IGCSE English Language course has been updated to ensure that our distance learning students receive fully up-to-date information on the revised exam mark scheme. The course also includes an additional worksheet for the new digital text in the Edexcel Anthology.

Existing students are being sent updated sections of the course that are affected by the specification change.  New students will receive fully updated courses.

Who else will benefit from our updated course materials?

At Oxford Open Learning we also offer all students studying for the Edexcel IGCSE English Language A examination, whether at home, at school, or at work, the opportunity to use our set of 20 Anthology worksheets and answers independently of our courses.  A sample worksheet is included here.  Please email us us, if you would like further details of our sets of Anthology Worksheets.
