The French IGCSE Distance Learning Course

Syllabus

Oxford Open Learning’s French IGCSE course is designed to prepare students for the Edexcel IGCSE in French (4FR0) for examination in June 2012 or later years

Assessment

Assessment is by two written examinations. Paper 1 (Listening) lasts 35 minutes and Paper 2 (Reading and Writing) lasts 1 hour 30 minutes.

Students can also be entered for the optional, separately assessed and separately endorsed speaking examination. This speaking examination, Paper 3, will be awarded separately from Paper 1 and Paper 2. The grade awarded for this optional assessment will be reported separately on the student’s final certificate.

Course Structure

The OOL course is designed to match the Edxcel 4FR0 specification and is divided into the following five modules:

• Day to day life
• Holidays and travel
• Modern life
• Speaking and listening skills

There is an accompanying CD which provides various exercises to support Module Five and the oral/aural requirements of the examination.
