IGCSE English Literature

The Course

The course has been developed to meet the requirements of Edexcel English Literature specification 4ET0, Issue 2, for examination in June 2012 or later years.  There is no coursework. The course comprises 6 modules containing 20 lessons, 16 Poetry Anthology Worksheets, 5 Unseen texts worksheets, 11 Tutor-marked Assignments including mock exam.

Module 1:       Literary Analysis

Module 2:       Essay Technique

Module 3:       Prose: Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck

Module 4:       Drama: Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare

Module 5:       Unseen Texts and Poetry Anthology

Module 6:       Unseen Texts

Students will need to buy copies of the set texts, Romeo and Juliet and Of Mice and Men (editions are specified in the course folder). They will also need to have access to the internet in order to download the Poetry Anthology from the Edexcel website. Assessment

There are two written exams lasting 1 hour 45 minutes and I hour 30 minutes respectively.

Paper One The total number of marks is 60, 60% the overall total. The paper examines the drama and prose elements of the specification.

Paper Two The total number of marks is 40, 40% of the overall total. This paper examines the poetry element of the specification, and includes a question on an unseen poem or prose fiction extract.
