IGCSE Biology

Syllabus

Oxford Open Learning’s Biology IGCSE course is designed to prepare students for the Edexcel IGCSE in Biology (4BI0) for examination in June 2012 or later years.

IGCSE Biology Course Structure

The OOL IGCSE Biology course is designed to follow the structure of the Edexcel 4BI0 specification and is divided into five modules, as follows:

  • Cells and Organisms
  • Plant and Animal Physiology A
  • Plant and Animal Physiology B
  • Inheritance
  • Ecology and Food Production

The IGCSE Biology course enables students to develop a range of scientific skills as they work with diagrams, graphs, statistics, photographic images and online media.

Assessment

IGCSE Biology is by written examination. Paper 1 lasts two hours and is worth two-thirds of the marks. Paper 2 lasts one hour and is worth one third of the marks. There is no coursework and no practical examination.
