The Course
Module seven of the IAM Diploma is much less structured than the others. It requires candidates to produce an extended piece of written work, either in the form of a case study examination paper or work project report.
Case Study
The aim of the case study is to develop the ability to apply skills of judgment, analysis, evaluation and decision making to a specific situation.
The case study paper will provide details of a hypothetical organisation, its environment, turnover etc and will pose a series of questions relating primarily to the improvement of efficiency and effectiveness for that organisation.
Work Project Report
The aim of the Work Project Report is the same as that of the Case Study, it takes the form of a written report to Senior Management and should target a specific situation in the student's workplace and how it could be improved. It should be between 3,000 and 6,000 words.
The work Project Report is not an easy alternative and careful thought should be given before deciding on this option. There are 3 conditions which must be met.
- It is imperative to have the full support of the employer so that ample opportunity to research a suitable administrative work situation can be made available.
- Your tutor must agree to the proposal so that proper support and counselling is available.
- A synopsis must be completed and forwarded to IAM for approval using the official application form.
Assessment and Duration
Assessment is by examination only. We recommend a minimum of 140 hours of study per module.
