Distance Learning French GCSE - The Course
Each lesson of the French GCSE course begins with a set of clearly stated objectives and an explanation of its place in the overall programme of study.
Effective learning is encouraged through frequent activities and self-assessment questions, and there is an accompanying cassette to help strengthen students' abilities to listen to and speak French. There are sixteen tutor-marked assignments.
Key Topics Covered
The French GCSE course covers the entire syllabus in four modules:
- Preliminary Lessons
- Reading
- Comprehension Skills
- Writing Skills
- Speaking and Listening Skills
Most of the lessons are linked to specific, everyday situations, such as travel bookings, letter writing, giving directions, etc.
The Syllabus
Our French GCSE course prepares students for AQA GCSE French syllabus 3651, for examinations in 2008 and later years. Assessment is by four papers, which test listening, speaking, reading and writing skills. No coursework is required. We have chosen this syllabus as it is the most suited to distance learning.
Special Requirements
Some basic knowledge of spoken and written French is assumed, although the first module of the course is designed to enable students to brush up on fundamental French vocabulary and grammar.
