Overview Of Courses
Oxford Open Learning offers a range of computing courses and in order to make sensible decisions about what to study you will need to read the following background information carefully.
The two qualifications you can work towards are either the European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL) or the Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS).

Microsoft Office Specialist
The MOS program is one of the few comprehensive, performance-based certification programs approved by Microsoft to validate desktop computer skills using the Microsoft Programs.
The MOS modules are:
Word
Powerpoint
Excel
Access (optional)
This course will provide computer program literacy and allow the user/ student to measure their proficiency and identify ways to enhance their skills. It is an invaluable qualification for all computer users.
European Computer Driving Licence
The ECDL is the world's largest vendor-neutral end-user computer skills certification and is internationally recognised as the global benchmark in this area. It certifies that the holder is competent in the use of a personal computer and common computer applications, and knows the essential concepts of IT.
No prior computer skills are needed, but students must have a computer with Office 2000 or Office XP.
There are seven ECDL modules in the new syllabus version 4: 1.
Basic Concepts of IT and Using the Computer and Managing Files (These are 2 separate modules presented in the one course pack)
