The Course
This Sage Advanced course is presented in an interactive, user-friendly style, and in the clearest possible language. Each new concept is explained in text and illustrated with informative pictures, screenshots and diagrams. We also provide an accompanying CD Rom.
Course Aims
By the end of this course, you should be able to do the following:
- Import customer data from a comma separated value file created in Microsoft Excel.
- Set up departments; use departments when invoicing or purchasing; analyse the income and expenditure for each department.
- Set up budgets; run the budget report to determine variations in actuals and budget figures.
- Raise sales, order quotes and quotes via invoices; create sales orders and sales invoices from quotes; create proforma invoices and convert a proforma into a full invoice for posting to the ledgers.
- Enter currency rates and set up the euro currency; raise invoices showing a euro gross amount; receive payments in euros converting the posted figure to sterling; pay foreign currency invoices while posting stirling figures to the ledgers.
- Use contra entries to offset what your are owed against what you owe.
- Enter supplier payments as a batch and create and print cheques for payments.
- Make corrections to posted records.
- Make global changes to product prices for all records and to specific records.
- Calculate the cost of sales for a period by running the Opening and Closing Stock Wizard.
- Use the Report Designer to modify an existing layout file and to create a new report.
- View and print the audit trail; clear down the audit trail.
- Password protect your Sage system; create user profiles restricting users from using all modules of the program.
The Syllabus
Oxford Open Learning offers Sage courses at three levels: Beginners, Intermediate and Advanced. Students are required to start with the Beginners module unless they have previous experience. Certificates are available for those who complete each of these modules. To complete a module, a student must submit each of the assignments in that module and score at least 50% for each. There are no exams.
Special Requirements
Our course is written for and based on the Sage Line 50 vB Financial Controller package. We recommend that potential students contact us if they have another Sage package or a different version of Sage Line 50 vB and we will advise on its suitability for use with our course.
Duration
We will provide tuition for three months per module and each level requires 20-30 hours of study.
